Marriage Made Strong

Tonight I found myself engaging in some marriage gossip. I later found myself having a difficult time sleeping. In my restlessness, I immediately felt convicted because I’ve been praying for this particular marriage but I still was tempted into false chatter. I thought… if my marriage was to hit a rough patch I’d want close friends and family praying for my marriage not gossiping.

Marriages are made strong because God is pleased with marriage but that does not mean marriages are perfect.

After feeling convicted, I went into prayer

God forgive me for my gossip. May God bring peace and protection over marriages tonight. I am praying for my family, friends and anyone reading this post. May God unite families and help them hold each other through difficult times. May he strengthen marriages so that their bonds are not easily broken. Although we live in world that has been taken over by the click of a button, may God give marriages power to overcome momentary gratification. May strong holds be moved.

Amen

If you’re not married but you desire to be married, I encourage you to start praying for the marriages of others. Start preparing yourself to understand that marriage can be beautiful but marriage can also have challenges.

The world sees marriage via the fancy dress, shiny ring, the beautiful children, the nice homes and family vacations. But marriage is a union between two people who should operate on one accord and that picture is not always beautiful and pleasant.

The fancy dress has a price, the shiny ring fades, those beautiful children keep them busy, that home takes a lot to keep it filled with peace and happiness, and those family vacations can cost a fortune or don’t always go as planned.

So, don’t gossip about marriages especially if you don’t know the facts. However, pray for what you don’t see and what you don’t know. This is how you help make marriages strong. Pray without ceasing because one day you may need those prayers.
